I decided to do this journal page because I hadn't had the chance to do much 'art' lately. I used some sprays, gelatos, stencils, stamps and even incorporated some of my 'doodles'. Just hoping for more sun than clouds in the future. :D
It's been a rough month… I know that life is like a roller coaster but I hate them! I've been on way more of them lately than I would care to so if my life wants to smooth out and be boring for a while, that would be appreciated. LOL

It has been a rough week but my father-in-law, Jack, isn't suffering anymore. He fought a brave, albeit short, battle with the evil Cancer and unfortunately, he was taken from us far too quickly. He was a great man and will be greatly missed.
I decided to pay tribute to him with this layout and I really like how it turned out. I will always remember special things about him like how he called everyone either 'Dude' or 'Babe'. ;-) I wish that my daughter, his only grandchild, had a chance to get to know him better. We will cherish the time we did have with him. Ok, Jack, "We're good to go"... Yesterday was (inter) National Scrapbook Day so I decided to take part, for a change. I've had a few layout ideas for sometime that I hadn't gotten around to doing so I decided that would be a good project to work on. I am creating a 'memory book' of my daughter's elementary school days. I managed to get 4 done! Now, sure, they aren't up to my usual standards but they'll do for quick layouts. I still have about 6 left to take me to the end of grade 4 so I'll work on those later but 'life' always seems to get in the way of my 'fun'. ;-) This is the first one I did… Ally's before school years. Used some stamping, some stick on letters and some flowers. I even embellished a bit with the Heidi Swapp acrylic hearts and some colour shine/magic. The second one was Kindergarten. This was a real quick one. I used my fav gelatos on some die cut letters to give it the kids colouring feel. Some hand printed letters, stick on ones and some stamps finished it off. Then the third was for grade one. I used some HS colour shine to make a colourful background and banner, then finished it off with some stencilling. Last was the grade one classroom pic. Pretty basic, but it's done and I contributed 4 layouts to the Instagram challenge. We had some excitement last week… my niece had her first baby! We were all very happy to meet the new addition to our family and I decided to document the event with a scrapbook page.
I have mixed emotions about this 8" x 8" page… the 12" x 12" ones were kind of large but these guys are on the small size. It seems kind of tight but I can live with it. What size do you prefer? I love Heidi Swapp Color Shine. Such bright colours and interesting effects. I used it on her resist papers, as well as a stencil with gesso, gelatos sticks and my Creative Caps writing. I hope to be teaching a class about how to add fun 'doodles' and lettering to your projects. It all depends on how much interest I get. I'm offering it at a local craft store and the owner is excited about it. :-) I look forward to sharing my technique… it will be so much fun! |
