Yesterday was (inter) National Scrapbook Day so I decided to take part, for a change. I've had a few layout ideas for sometime that I hadn't gotten around to doing so I decided that would be a good project to work on. I am creating a 'memory book' of my daughter's elementary school days. I managed to get 4 done! Now, sure, they aren't up to my usual standards but they'll do for quick layouts. I still have about 6 left to take me to the end of grade 4 so I'll work on those later but 'life' always seems to get in the way of my 'fun'. ;-) This is the first one I did… Ally's before school years. Used some stamping, some stick on letters and some flowers. I even embellished a bit with the Heidi Swapp acrylic hearts and some colour shine/magic. The second one was Kindergarten. This was a real quick one. I used my fav gelatos on some die cut letters to give it the kids colouring feel. Some hand printed letters, stick on ones and some stamps finished it off. Then the third was for grade one. I used some HS colour shine to make a colourful background and banner, then finished it off with some stencilling. Last was the grade one classroom pic. Pretty basic, but it's done and I contributed 4 layouts to the Instagram challenge.

Just a quick post… I decided to try a new technique with my beloved Gelatos. I stamped the main 'swirly' with Versamark and added clear embossing powder to it. After using my heat gun to set it, I applied a few of my favourite Gelato colours (Grape, Guava & Bubble Gum) to the background. The pigment doesn't stick to where the embossed image is so it stays mostly white. I just love how the colours blend, especially when you add water. I find I like how it works on watercolour paper best, like I used for this card, but it does work well on other papers, too. Hi. I had a very busy couple of weeks, which is why I haven't posted anything for a while.
I found some new inspiration while checking out Pinterest and decided to give it a try. It's using my Gelatos (by Faber-Castell) again but over top of modelling paste (which I've never used before) and die cut shapes, to add some texture. There's also some stamps in there, gesso and even melted crayons! :-) I like how it turned out and need to follow its advice… Be Happy! |
